The Castel Gelluli extra virgin olive oil is produced in Tunisia which is the world’s third largest green gold producer, with over 300,000 tones in good years.
Olive cultivation in Tunisia dates back to the 8th century BC: the Phoenicians were the first to introduce this cultivation to North Africa and in the Carthaginian period, olive cultivation started to spread granting several advantages to olive-growers.
The expansion continued thanks to Romans who established intensified irrigation techniques and revolutionized olive oil extraction.

History of the Estate

Castel Gelluli is a premium extra virgin olive oil produced from the Djellouli olive groves located in El Jem in the center of Tunisia.
El Jem corresponds to the ancient city of Thysdrus that appears from the second century, according to the expression of Gilbert Charles-Picard, as the «oil capital» of Byzacene and continues to be a very important olive growing region, today.
The estate, wich was acquired around 1900 by Sadok Djellouli , the Caid of Sfax during that period, was planted in olive trees in the 1950s.

Castel Gelluli Extra Virgin Olive Oil


The family reserve of Castel Gelluli is in the center of Tunisia on the Mediterranean coast. With trees that have been producing award winning olive oil for years, Castel Gelluli prides itself on using harvesting and pressing methods that respect the trees and olives.

Castel Gelluli is a premium extra virgin olive oil produced in Tunisia by Nobiles Olea. Castel Gelluli is a single-varietal oil, made exclusively with the Chemlali olive variety. Rich tasting, organic and loaded with antioxidants, the olives once harvested are pressed the same day to ensure its premium, extra virgin qualities.

Castel Gelluli Olive Grove

The olive trees of the Chemlali variety have been planted according to the traditional method with as spacing of 24 m and their cultivation has always been carried out without any chemical additives, fertilizers or pesticides. “Organic” certifications are being carried out for the plantation (UE Standards & USDA), as well as an FSSC 22000 certification for the conditioning unit.
